Mi-Pay is continuing to expand the reach of our GlobalTopup international airtime top up service, enabling customers in one country to buy mobile phone topups for friends and relatives in different countries. Mi-Pay has previously signed international airtime deals with airtime distributors and mobile operators in over thirty countries including India and now Poland enabling Mi-Pay top provide a unique capability to its clients.
Poland is a rapidly growing mobile market, with over 44 million mobile subscribers, 90% of which are served by 3 major mobile operators: Orange Polska, Plus GSM and Era. Play, the fourth operator in Poland, launched in 2007, with over 2 million subscribers and is expected to gain another million in 2009. The mobile Polish market is therefore one of the largest in Europe, its high market penetration hinting at a maturing market. Mi-Pay's GlobalTopup service is fully multi-lingual and now integrates with all these mobile operators to be able to offer those in Poland and working overseas, the means to top-up or recharge the mobile phones of those loved ones and friends with any pre-pay mobile phone of any of the Polish operators.
Mi-Pay's GlobalTopup service is a core part of our Mobile Money Service and is also offered on a white-label basis to mobile operators and partners, wishing to drive additional revenue and reduce churn from existing customers. It creates new revenue streams for Operators and Service Providers from the sales of cross border mobile recharges from migrant workers, travellers and expatriates living abroad.
Customers typically register for the service and provide the country and operator of their intended recipient. The customer is presented with a list of topup amounts available, and the cost in their own local currency at the prevailing exchange rate. Once the transaction is confirmed, Mi-Pay collects the payment and processes the topup immediately.
Starting with the third quarter of 2009 the GlobalTopup service will also be available within money transfer agencies across Europe.
