Du is the brand name of the Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company and is the second national Mobile Network Operator (MNO) in Dubai. Its also the first Telco in the Emirates to offer the full spectrum of voice, data, video and content services over fixed and mobile networks to both residential and business customers.
To enable it's vision, du sought to deploy a "Payment Gateway" or "Payment Switch" which would serve as a single point for al electronic payment traffic in and out of du systems. Key requirements to its success were:
Having selected Mi-Pay's outsourced payment service, du's Payment Gateway now provides a single point of access for all transaction sources, irrespective of where they are initiated or processed. This is crucial in providing economies of scale in terms of standard access and reusability of systems. The service can enable du to offer payment services not only to its own customers but also to partnering companies for 3rd party bill payment, content and other mobile payment services.
In summary, du can initiate payments and feed these into the banking infrastructure to obtain authorization, whilst at the same time maintaining a clear vision of the customer's payments for services accessed and consumed over the network so strengthening customer relationships. Du has successfully implemented this Payment Gateway based purely on the Mi-Pay platform and in a short period of time, both met and even exceeded it's outlined business objectives.
